Childbirth Classes

Why do I need to take childbirth classes? you may be asking.

After all, you've been having regular visits with your doctor.  You've signed up for the tour.  Don't you simply call your physician when "it's time," check into the hospital, and have the baby?  Isn't that what everyone does?  Before taking natural childbirth classes, I certainly thought there was only one, inevitable way to experience birth, a way that nobody seemed especially enthusiastic about.  Instead of facing birth with trepidation, I discovered ahead of time the myriad choices that I would encounter before and during childbirth, entering the experience armed with options, confidence, and excitement.  You can, too.  Almost nothing compares to the amazing joy and overwhelming awe of giving birth your way!

Thursdays 7-9 p.m.

For due dates in/after Oct. 2020:

  • July 9 - Oct. 1

For due dates in/after Feb. 2021:

  • Oct. 8 - Jan. 14 (with time off for the holidays)

Mondays 7-9 p.m.

For due dates in/after Dec. 2020:

  • Sept. 14 - Nov. 30

It's possible to join any 12-week session as late as class #4, but this will require scheduling a make-up intensive.

Also, if your dates don't match my sessions, contact me to make private arrangements.  I'm flexible!

During this time of COVID-19 when birth may be limited to 1 support person, how wonderful to have Dad be a trained birth coach!

Due to restrictions surrounding meeting in person, we're holding classes with Google Meet at this time.

But, why in the world would dad need to take classes too? you say.

What a blessing to train for and run the rewarding marathon of childbirth with a coach who has a vested interest in the best outcome, a healthy mom and baby.  But the coach needs training and a handbook, too!  This is why my husband joins us for every class.  He offers experienced insight and mentoring for our dads.  Dad's integral role at birth ensures that mom focuses her efforts without distraction but with constant, knowledgeable support and encouragement.

This isn't my first pregnancy!  What could I possibly need to learn? you protest.

Perhaps a previous birth didn't follow the course you expected.  Naturally, you love your beautiful baby but wonder whether the birth experience could be different in some way.  Maybe you don't even know what that way is!  Learning with uBirth can reveal vistas that you never imagined, providing options in areas such as positive pain management and learned relaxation.

What uBirth highlights:
  • Excellent nutrition and targeted pregnancy exercises

  • Massage and relaxation techniques for natural pain management

  • Labor positions and labor practices

  • Advanced labor support

  • The stages of labor

  • Evidence about choices in childbirth

  • Handling C-section

  • Breastfeeding and newborn care

Whether this is your first birth, or your fourth, or whichever-invest 12 weeks with uBirth and make this birth your best ever.
